Susan Ashford

Susan Ashford received her M.S. and Ph.D. in organizational behavior from Northwestern University and currently is the Michael and Susan Jandernoa Professor of Organizational Behavior at the University of Michigan Business School. She joined the Michigan faculty in 1991 after spending eight years at Dartmouth College’s Amos Tuck School of Business Administration. She served as the business school’s Senior Associate Dean from 1998 – 2002, headed up the Ross Leadership Initiative from 2006-2010 and was the Academic Director of the Ross EMBA program from 2002 – 2012. Professor Ashford’s research focuses on individual proactivity in organizational lives: in seeking feedback to assess performance and potential, in facilitating their own socialization during organizational entry or attempting to sell particular issues to top management from the middle ranks of organizations. Professor Ashford’s work has been published in a variety of outlets including: the Administrative Science Quarterly, Academy of Management Review, the Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Applied Psychology, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, Research in Organizational Behavior and Strategic Management Journal, among other outlets.
